Well, it’s a wrap.

My first official week on the job as an SDR has come to a close.

I was recently hired as an inbound SDR at a company called Baremetrics — a Subscription Analytics and Insights SaaS company.

My team and I spent the entirety of last week training. This week, we were let off the leash to apply what we’ve learned.

We send a lot of emails.

As an inbound SDR, my account executive preaches personalization. Our goal is to show our prospects that we’ve done our fair share of research.

The problem? Inefficiency. Spending too much time researching a prospect prevents us from contacting others. Common sense right?

After my first day, I sent a weekly low of 24 emails in a full eight hour shift!

I thought to myself “how can I automate my outreach while simultaneously personalizing?”

The answer? Templates.

The CRM we’re using is Pipedrive. I did a quick overview which you could view here.

Here are a few screenshots that show you how to create templates:

After clicking templates, select: +Save draft as template…

Fields is a great way to automate the information of the prospect.

Here are some real examples that have led to either a response or a meeting booked!

Example #1: Did we drop the ball?

I use this email when dealing with past prospects that signed up for a free trial, but didn’t purchase a subscription. The goal of this email is to get the customers attention and show them that we take responsibility for whatever we did wrong.

Example #2: Another Free Trial?

Normally, I send this email after the one above. My objective with this email is to bring back past prospects. There could’ve a multitude of reasons why they didn’t sign up. One of which could’ve been support. Telling the prospect that I will provide a one-on-one experience reassures them that it will be different this time!

Disclaimer: I’m selective with how I send this email. I try to prioritize high quality leads because their more likely to sign up afterwards.

Example #3: I’m a real person

This ones my favorite. No one likes automated emails. Prospects can sense when an email has been copy pasted. After I send a “Welcome to Baremetrics” styled email to a trialing customer, I send this one.

It took me one simple line to show him that I’ve done my research. As you can see, Kevin said he “loved the personalized email.” I got complimented for it!

Iterations of each of these emails has been successful thus far.

In conclusion

After implementing a variety of templates, my weekly high of emails sent reached 42. Nearly double the first day! The effectiveness also increased and I received more responses. I attribute this to the fact I was able to reach more prospects.

Obviously you want to send these emails in the context of your business.

The great thing about email templates is you can find a simple way to customize each one. Add screenshot, GIFS, recordings, etc. Whatever pertains to their company. That’s what I’ve done.

Be careful though. Don’t let successful templates hold you back. Continuously experiment! A golden template could be a few emails away…
