How to Become a Sales Expert: Project Outline
Summary
For the month of December 2020, I will be attempting to become a sales expert. I got the idea from PandaDoc’s sales representative Brandy Drzymkowski. As an aspiring SDR with minimal experience, I felt it was necessary to immerse myself in the subject to be able to help a company’s sales team.
I Will Interview At Least Three Different Sales Representatives
To add to Brandy’s already great project, I will include interviews of sales representatives who are in various stages of their careers. This will help me gain valuable insight for what’s needed in entry-level positions and beyond.
Read “How to Win Friends and Influence People”
In nearly every sales conversation I have, I always ask what are the best resources to continue to further my learning on the subject. 10/10 this book is recommended.
Dale Carnegie outlines principles that are fundamental in developing strong personal and professional relationships. Since sales depends on one’s ability to influence and handle one-on-one interactions, I will be reading the book. To finish it in 30 days, I’ll need to read about 9 pages a day. I’ll challenge myself to publicly share a favorite quote each day.
Read “Economics in One Lesson”
This book doesn’t directly relate to sales. However, every salesperson should understand basic economic principles. To finish it in 30 days, I’ll need to read about 6 pages a day. I’ll challenge myself to publicly share a favorite quote each day.
Write Sales Emails For 2 Real Companies
Emails are a fundamental component to SDRs daily work. So, I will attempt to write both warm/cold emails for a company called Baremetrics. Getting repetitions of writing the different types of emails will help me in any stage of a sales career.
Source Qualifying Leads For A Real Company
I’ve worked with Sales Navigator in the past and have found it to be a great tool for gathering leads. For this reason, I will be using LinkedIn Sales Navigator to build a leads list for the companies I’m creating emails for.
Learn A CRM
Customer Relationship Management CRM solutions are critical to helping companies understand a customers’ needs. A CRM simply helps improve customer relations. Hence the name. I’ll research, watch tutorials, and teach myself Pipedrive, then create a video detailing what I’ve learned.
